Mad Pizza E Bar Newtown is a pizza, pasta and wine bar chain in the vegan hub of King Street. Other locations can be found at Bondi, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills and Potts Point. The Newtown Bar is an easy meeting place to go with friends for dinner and a few drinks. They play funky music and know their menus.
Their unique, healthy thin pizza base makes them stand out amongst other pizza joints in Australia. A gluten free base is available as well as a variety of vegan and vego options. Going vegan doesn't mean missing out on cheese - MPeB uses Notzarella cheese by request.
The pizza menu includes four vegan pizza options:
DEMARIO roast pumpkin slices, red onion, mint & pine nuts with chilli & caramelised balsamic
FUNGHI sliced field mushrooms on a tomato base with rosemary, rocket leaves and white truffle oil
QUATTRO spinach, pine nuts, chilli & truffle oil with Notzarella cheese
QUEEN MARGARITA Notzarella cheese, tomato sauce, basil leaves and black lava sea salt
This is the kind of pizza place to go to when you're after a light pizza that won't leave you with that heavy feeling. The thin base and minimal toppings make it easy enough to polish off a whole pizza to yourself.
When I go to MPeB I opt for the Vegan Quattro Pizza. It's the most flavoursome of them all, topped with truffle oil, Notzarella cheese, pine nuts and spinach. Along with a glass of the Radio Boka Tempranillo.
Funghi Pizza (vegan), $23.50
Quattro Pizza (vegan), $21.50

ReplyDeleteThese pizzas look very appetizing.
ReplyDeleteI just read pizza macaroni recipe on food52.com and reading this post made my hunger of pizza becomes official. Would love to try vegan pizza because I love eating minced beef and sausages as its toppings.
