Chelsey Crafts: Vegan Review: Iku Wholefood, Pitt St Mall Food Court, Sydney

I don't know where I've been for the last few years because I've JUST discovered the food court on Level 5, Pitt Street Mall.

It's not just any food court, no, you won't find McDonald's, Hungry Jacks or Subway here. Instead, the food court is filled with a great variety of higher quality fast food. Think THR1VE, Din Thai Fung, Sabbaba and of course, Iku Wholefood!

Iku Wholefood originated in Glebe in 1985 and has since opened its doors to Pitt St Mall, MLC Centre, MET Centre, Chifley Plaza, AMP Plaza, Darlinghurst, North Sydney, Rozelle, Neutral Bay, Waverley, North Ryde and Mona Vale.

They are all about having a balanced diet and serve nutritious, wholefood based meals using organic and high quality local ingredients whenever possible. Gluten free options are available and all of their food is dairy free, additive free, preservative free and free from genetic modification. So basically you can eat at Iku Wholefood and feel great.

The menu is extensive so no matter if you're feeling a curry, a burger, salad or sweets they've got you covered.

The Pitt St Mall location is in a food court setting. The service was fast but not the friendliest. The food was true to Iku Wholefood and makes a great healthy, delicious and quick bite.

Laksa, $12.90

The richly coloured laksa was a smaller serving size than I expected although the flavours certainly made up for that. Deliciously rich, creamy and slightly sweet - the laksa was full of flavour and filled with just the right amount of veggies, sprouts and fresh coriander.

Black Rice Pudding

For $3.00 more you can add a pudding to your order (usually $4+). I wasn't expecting much from this little packaged dessert but wow, it was good. The thick, sweet black rice pudding is covered in a layer of sweet creamed coconut and is perfect for satisfying sweet cravings.

I'd highly recommend stopping in at Food on 5 to grab a bite to eat. There is so much variety you can't go wrong.
