Recipe: Vegan Chocolate Crackles

In Australia, there's nothing that says Children's Party sweets quite like Chocolate Crackles.
I have fond memories of these chocolatey, coconuty, crunchy party treats from my childhood, and it has probably been that long since I last ate one!

I had a busy weekend not long ago and only had half an hour to put something together to take to an afternoon tea for the next day. My friend BB had just brought home a jumbo box of Rice Bubbles and I had just brought home a new bag of raw cacao powder. I put two and two together and this recipe was prepped and put into the fridge to set within half an hour.

Makes 20 small Chocolate Crackles

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups Rice Bubbles
- 3/4 cups of shredded coconut
- 20 patty pans

Recipe
1. In a small saucepan on low heat melt the coconut oil, maple syrup and stir in the raw cacao powder until combined.
2. Take off the heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
3. Pour the Rice Bubbles and shredded coconut into the saucepan and stir until dry ingredients are completely coated.
4. With a teaspoon, spoon mixture into
5. Refrigerate to set (I let mine set overnight).

Now don't forget to share with the other kids!

Do you have any quick, fail-safe recipes? Do you take homemade goods to parties or grab snacks on the way?

  1. I remember the taste of copha which I didn't like. Is that vegan? We used to only have copha in the fridge to make chocolate crackles!

    1. When I think Copha, I think Chocolate Crackles too! haha
I think Copha is vegan, it's mainly vegetable fat shortening and soy right? I'm not a fan of that Copha taste though and I'm allergic to soy.
