My First Knitted Cardigan - In The Making

Until now my knitting has consisted of holy, unfinished scarves and a baby cardi (below) that was made possible only with the help of my Knitting-Genius Friend.

The same Knitting-Genius Friend has encouraged me to make something for myself now that I've finished the baby cardigan and I've chosen to knit the Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fetig (top picture).

It's a lightweight knit cardi that will be perfect to throw on in the cool afternoons of warmer months or to layer during the cooler months.

I ordered the yarn from WEBS for the cardigan, a hand dyed mix of cotton and silk by Misti Alpaca and I can't even begin to explain how soft it is. I'm thinking I might just have to get more in each colour in our next order. (Order in bulk to save $$$$)

This is my progress so far. The pattern is designed so you won't have to sew together the side and sleeve seams. Could I love this pattern any more?

Now to finish knitting the sleeves, the length (I think I'll make it longer than the pattern, maybe hip height) then the collar.

Have you knitted the Featherweight Cardigan?

What are you making at the moment?

  2. Wow, that is looking great!! I have yet to attempt to knit a sweater. That is definitely on my to-do list. A lot of the things I knit are cowl scarves, socks, and hats. That is looking great so far.
