Along with the Slipknot the Chain Stitch (ch for short) is the most common way to begin crochet patterns. It is also used throughout patterns - without the chain stitch Granny Squares would just be Granny Circles or Granny Blobs. So it's fair to say the Chain Stitch is an essential stitch for all crochet beginners to learn.
1. If you are making a foundation chain, start with a Slipknot.
Otherwise you can skip over to Step 2.
2. Yarn over.
3. Pull the yarn through the stitch.
Voila!
That was one chain stitch, or in pattern talk Ch1.
Happy Chaining!
On another note, I'm kinda disappointed with that nail polish. It is named Hot Pink and looks Hot Pink in the bottle but it came out a little Orange Pink don't you think?

Hi Chelsey!
ReplyDeleteI'm a crochet beginner and I love how you show each step clearly! I will bookmark this for future reference :) Thanks and have a lovely day!
Haha, I was actually going to say that I like the nail polish color! It definitely has some orange to it, though.
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial! I've always thought that I might want to learn how to crochet but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
