The grand finale of our trip to the Philippines. And grand it was!
After just a 25 minute plane ride from Manila we landed on the lush, members only island. As we stepped off the plane the friendly staff greeted us with fresh Lei's and coconut water. It felt very fancy indeed.
The seven themed villages on the island are inspired by popular beach destinations - Balesin, Bali, Costa Del Sol, Mykonos, Phuket, St. Tropez and Toscana.
Balesin village had the best beach of all. It had the whitest sand and crystal clear water. We spent most of our time on the island at this beach; snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, running, soaking up the sun, looking for seashells and watching the sunset.
St. Tropez, the most colourful of the villages, was the best place to cool off in the pool and enjoy some yummy crepes.
Mykonos was a vision indeed with the white-washed houses with blue features, the winding streets and the view from the villages restaurant, not to mention the delicious food in the Greek restaurant.
We only had a quick look at the Phuket and Bali villages but I would have liked to spend more time there..
The villages of Costa Del Sol and Toscana were still in the building process while we were there. Hopefully we will get the chance to go back to Balesin Island one day and explore them too.
We stayed in the gorgeous villas at Balesin village.
Waking up and seeing the ocean from our window was heaven and we spent a bit of time on our balcony enjoying our morning coffee, reading on the lounge bed and playing with the little ones.
There was plenty of activities. We shot M16's and AK47's at the shooting range, played golf(very badly), swam in the pools, indulged in the islands speciality restaurants(eating is an activity, isn't it?), played table tennis and pool and had a go at archery(I got two bullseye's!).
We took advantage of the water activities...
had fun collecting seashells..
and watched the sun set with a drink or two.
It was the perfect ending to our holiday in the Philippines.
